Birdy Song

Today we heard from TUI. Our holiday to Skiathos in May is officially cancelled.

The good people of Skiathos and Greece as a whole suffer yet again after the Thomas Cook fiasco of 2019.  With luck we will be able re-book our holiday for May 2021 and so inject some cash into the island economy.

Here’s a video of Skiathos scenes with a favourite song entitled “Wings” and sung by Birdy.

I dedicate this post to all our friends in Skiathos, especially The Family Mathinou at Agia Paraskevi, Costas and Efie at Spiti Oneiro, Dream House. Also - Nikos, Mum, Speri, Tina and Eleni at Maistrali, Christos at Kohyli, and Nikos & Julian at Platanias. Not forgetting all the other brilliant people, too many to mention, who make every Skiathos holiday so wonderful.

In Skiathos

Ta léme sýntoma. See you soon folks.

I feel happy putting a face to your name Phil through this post. this is the first time I heard about Skiathos in Greece and it looks like a very beautiful paradise! It's very sad that you have to cancel your trip but it's for the better, besides, Skiathos will surely be waiting for you in the coming years when all this is better. I on the other hand will also be cancelling my booked trip to Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar this May. It's extra sad because I'll be travelling with my father to celebrate his 68th year and also an advanced celebration of my 30th this June. Anyway, we can only hope for better days for all of us.

Thank you so much for sharing that video and that song "wings" is so beautiful! Stay safe my friend Phil!

We also canceled the holiday in April to Portugal.
but we don't get our money back ... we have to wait until the pandemi is over and book another holiday! And that is quite a shame!
Very nice video! Thanks for sharing!

I know the rules Phil ... but they are only valid with the Pope, not with our Mark! LOL He's not holy either! 😅

Although I couldn't claim any money back from the trip to Vietnam and Cambodia last month, I am so pleased I cancelled as I might still be in Cambodia trying to get home!

Phil - I agree with the previous comment - how nice to see you and (even more so) your lovely wife. Almost as good as your bird pictures (LOL).

Grand Cayman is completely closed to non-residents, so we will be cancelling our trip there planned for mid-May. Fortunately, we can get our money back on the flights, and "credit" for our diving and our condo. We desperately want to support these businesses so that they don't close their doors and to help their families.
