Another Archive

Apologies folks. It's another post from the locked-in archives. This one from and 9 May 2019. I'm linking this post to Rain Frances my pal in Canada for her Thursday Art Day - Rain Frances.

As my artistic ability is zero I digitised a few of the original photos into art. I hope Rain doesn't notice and complements my improved art.

Our fifteenth time in Menorca. And yes, Menorca is that special. But it does get less quiet, much busier and more popular each year, and that's why this may be our last.

Don’t forget – “click the pics” for a trip to sunny Menorca.

  1. Phil,

Photography is art. You have a natural eye for it,too. I like using photo-editing tools to play with my images. Sometimes I use it on my illustrations as well. I'm not a world traveler or my geology is horrible, so I had to look Menorca up. It's an island in the Mediterranean Sea. I am getting some exposure to that part of the world watching the Apple TV+ Long Way Round and now the Long Way Down series featuring Ewen McGregor and Charlie Boorman motorcycle adventures. It surprised me how much I actually enjoy this documentary. I think in part its because these men are fun to watch. It's definitely interesting. Anyway thanks for sharing your contributions this week. Have a fototastic day!

  3. Love that last shot, Black and White has a lot going for it in certain circumstances. Is that hoopoe nesting in a stone block? This looks a lovely place for a holiday I got put off that direction when we went to Lanzarote and got sandblasted for a week! Keep safe, Diane

  4. Nice archives. I am found three of your bird photos very interesting the Bee-eater, Cattle Egret on a cow no less and the Hoopoe.

  5. You have a real eye for birds. I also love the photos you took from Menorca, especially the two friends (and flowers) in the 55 gallon drums. Nice last image, too. Very dark and mysterious, Phil.

  6. Phil there are no direct flights to Minorca from France. A 5-hour drive to Paris than a 7 hour flight with a stop over to Minorca. Or an 8 hour drive to Barcelona and a 55 minute flight!!!! Not that we can fly anywhere anyway at present.

  8. Hello Phil,

  9. Hi Phil! :) I love your "improved" art!! Especially Fornels! I just really like black and white art a lot. I had to laugh at the Cattle Egret, what a great photo. That cow is might patient, or maybe just clueless lol! :) The Turtle Dove is so pretty, I don't see those here, though I just saw some Mourning Doves at the feeder! Yipee! Just females it seems. It was hard to get a close look at them, I'll have to invest in some binoculars at some point. Menorca looks like a lovely place to visit, but I'd likely stop going if it got too crowded as well. The Ciutadella art is fabulous! The Menorcan Friends is so cute!! And the last photo is very dark and mysterious, I love it! Wondering if I'd continue alone on that road or not! :)

  12. Too bad the beautiful area has become so populated & popular. Looks like a magical place to go. And such wonderful birds. (And your "art" is priceless Phil!) 😊

Thanks so much for sharing with us at IRBB this weekend. Stay safe.

  13. Soaking in the blue skies in your photos. Ours are staying cloudy for a few more days. The Egyptian vulture is a pretty bird, never quite think of vultures as pretty but that one seems to be. Wonderful "art". Hope you have a great new week!

  14. Your digitalized photos were wonderful and artsy, but you Photography can stand on it's own. Your pictures are beautiful and, once again, I am seeing birds I have never seen before. The one that peeked my interest is the black bird that had all the features of a Kestrel (falcon) without the teardrop ... perhaps the teardrop is blended in with the color of the bird. Would love to know more about that bird if you could find the time :) So glad you have joined in with TAD ... you have much to offer.

  15. The Egyptian vulture is certainly much prettier than the vultures we see here! A lot of lovely captures this week, Phil. Thanks for joining us at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2021/02/black-and-white.html

  16. As it turns out, this morning is a perfect time to guzzle my strong coffee and take a virtual tour of Menorca.

The wind is howling outside the office window and the temperature is expected to drop 15 degrees by sunset and another 10 by tomorrow morning (35 F/1.7 C). Brrrr!

All of your photographs are "art". I know that because I once read that "art, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder". And I am the "beholder".

If Menorca continues to become more popular, we hope you are able to find a suitable substitute. What a wonderful place to retreat for a change of pace.

All here is as good as can be expected. Fortunately, Gini and I have learned how to ignore the busy pace of the world's hysteria and are very lucky to have our own spots to which we may retreat.
