Every thereon is a sitting duck.
As for eagles...my home province, British Columbia, has managed to bring back the Bald Eagle population more than merely successfully...bordering on spectacular. Wildlife associations in BC requested the assistance of the public in re-establishing the Bald Eagle, and the response was almost overwhelming. Today, almost every British Columbian feels like part of the experience, including BC ex-pats such as I. Well, we all know what hunting birds do to a species...extinction!! Look at the pheasants in USA? No longer in abundance. Now, they're trying to save the species...too late? I used to bitch and bitch to my siblings that killing for sport is all wrong! To no avail.

Just reading this post irks me. Yet, what some do to SAVE a species is good. Who knows what works? I'm all for saving, not hunting. Nature will take a family and 'weed 'em out' if they're unhealthy, or save them if they are healthy. It's all a matter of the fittest.

VERY INTERESTING post this time Phil. Not that any of your posts are NOT. Great reading. Excellent pictures. If those eagles are being hunted for sport...the hunters should be set free and hunted to extinction themselves. My opinion.

Thanks so much for joining us birders this weekend at I'd Rather B Birdin'. Your contribution is always so appreciated. Let's hope they also put some teeth into their efforts to crack down on illegal shooting too. The laws are only as good as the enforcement mechanism. As for the twitchers, I am somehow glad that they got their comeuppance and the bird turned out to not be twitchable. Some of their behaviour verges on pathetic. All in all an interesting post, Phil.

David M.
