Swallows are everywhere.

I honestly can say I didn't realize that the swallows swooping in and out of a horse barn spooks horses. And barns being converted to homes and such? Also, a shame to have such populace invasion of humans with the lack of farm lands that wildlife needs. The SAD part is...we people don't realize the consequences until it is too late.

Thank you for sharing these amazing images with us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' this week!! I loved the "conversation" between the young swallow and his dad on why they left the warm climes of Durban to spend an icy "spring" in Yorkshire. I do hope Swallows don't decline in numbers. I've seen the migration from the East Coast of Southern Africa (Durban!) in March and marvelled at how many there were at the time. Even though I live in the city, when I go in certain parts of Montreal I can hear the birds singing, especially in nature parks and places like that. I would miss this if I didn't hear it.Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12692170857496442623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4526180646938954660.post-22480220869108653742016-07-15T15:09:19.247+01:002016-07-15T15:09:19.247+01:00Thank you, Phil, for this very timely post about B...Thank you, Phil, for this very timely post about Barn Swallows. It is conventional wisdom here in North America that the species is doing well outside of this continent, but this post certainly belies the fact, or at the very least raises some serious doubts. When I read stuff like this it makes me all the more resolute to do whatever I can to help these birds and I am wholeheartedly glad that we are monitoring the SpruceHaven population. David M.
